Revitalising and Reflecting: Transforming Urban Churchyard into a Garden of Peace for Wellbeing and Wildlife
We have been asked to transform the old churchyard into a green retreat in the heart of Leamington Spa. ARC and a team of volunteers have been working in partnership with All Saints Parish Church with the initial community garden work bring funded by Warwick District Council. Collectively we have been working off a planting plan focused on enhancing biodiversity, with trees and shrubs. You may know this urban green space as it is the large green area next to the Church with several public footpaths going through it. There is also a secluded gated East Garden which has been re-wilded with a rich mix of grasses and wildflowers amongst the fruit trees.
Our dedicated team of volunteers meets Tuesdays from 10am to 12noon to breathe new life into the garden.
Together, we are:
*Creating New Flower Beds: Bringing vibrant colours to sustain pollinators.
*Planting Native Trees: Enhancing biodiversity and providing natural habitats.
*Maintaining the Grounds: Ensuring the green space is thriving and beautiful .
*Creating Wildlife Habitats: Supporting local ecosystems in the urban landscape.
*Facilitating Nature-Based Crafts: co-creating projects to place in the garden or take home.
Relax and Connect
In addition to our gardening activities, these sessions offer a perfect opportunity to unwind and socialise. We provide refreshments, so you can enjoy a cuppa while chatting with fellow volunteers.
